Shhhh...it's a surprise party!
For Luis' Birthday, I tried to throw a surprise party. it didn't really work, because he showed up knowing there was a party for him. Though, I did get to surprise him with the food I made. I had e-mailed his Mom asking for recipes he likes from home. He said the Peanut Soup I made tasted just like hers! Even though I used roasted, instead of fresh peanuts. (and no, it is not just broth with peanuts floating in it like Jill thought) I also made him a "Slices of Orange" Pie, which turned out pretty good. Luis really likes oranges, so I was glad it turned out.
Luis is such a cutie! As is our niece.
My brother, Eric, did a good Job being in charge of Mothers day dinner. It was really last minute (I got a call right after church saying "I need you to make dessert tonight") But turned out very good. We make a good cooking team. He did the meat, the green beans and the corn. We both did potatoes (he said try this, and I said to add more salt and pepper. so that means I helped) and then I made the Dessert. I cant tell you what it was because I dont have a name for it yet. It was a puff pastry filled with vanilla pudding and fruit, then topped with powdered sugar. And YES, I made the pastry dough from scratch. It is easier than I thought, but time consuming.
