Standing Boy

What a wonderful way to end the night.  Sitting around blogging, surrounded by dogs(or at least I was until 5 min ago when some hooligans were messing around outside.  Now Freckles is in protective mode.  Good Boy.) eating french onion soup and homemade toast, waiting for the Hubby to get home.  Only thing better would be if he was already home.
Ever since we brought home Bryan's walker from my parents house, he has decided that his saucer is no longer good enough to stand in.  It is perfect for sitting though.

This is the thing Bryan spends most of his time in.  He loves it(most of the time)  He loves to run up and down the hall,  ram into my Tardis night light,(Not sexy!  Your welcome Dr Who fans)  chase poor Zuko, run over Daddy's toes, burst into the bathroom when mommy is peeing
He also eats in it since he hates the high chair.  Sometimes, it seems like he burns all those calories before he finishes eating.   He takes a bite, then does a lap around the kitchen.  Another bite, another lap.  I will also make him a little sandwich with baby food chicken and just give it to him in the tray.
I have caught him giving Zuko a bite *Insert slow motion reach and "Nooooooo"* before taking a bite himself.

I love this boy and his facial expressions

What a cute little bumbum
This boy has also started pulling himself up.  It started as a desperate reach for a puff and then suddenly, he was up.  It's so exciting and terrifying.  He can now reach things I would rather he couldn't.  He also doesn't always use stationary objects to hold onto.  I try not to freak out about things when he falls or bumps stuff, but the other day, I couldn't help it.  He was using our rolling office chair to stand when it did just that and rolled away. Of course he fell and hit his head.  On the tile floor.  Thank goodness he is such a graceful faller or he probably would have been hurt more.

"I can growl too"

As much trouble as he gets into, I am happy to watch him grow and learn.

Never Posting Ever Again

I take back what I said about being "in the swing of things" and this little stinker only waking briefly twice in the night.  The night I posted that, this kid decided that he wants to wake up multiple times, and play in the middle of the night.  I jinxed it.
But oh does he melt my heart.  It's like being frustrated, yet happy at the same time.  Call it Motherhood for short.  He is so happy in the middle of the night.  He will giggle and start tugging on the Hubby's shirt to wake him up too.  It is the happiest he is all day.

Bed Time

I have been trying to post this for over a month, but different things got in the way.  First, my internet crashed before I could save it, then Bryan got sick, (sick baby means messed up bed time routine) After that, there wasn't a good excuse other than, we were always away from home around bed time.
With the exception of yesterday, we are kinda getting back into the swing of things.  Added bonus:  B has been napping longer during the day.  Whoohoo! mommy time.

  • Bed time is supposed to happen around 8-9, depending on when he wakes from his last nap.
  • I give him his vitamins.
  • Change into nighttime diaper and Pajamas
  • Brush/wrestle those teeth clean
  • Read a book
  • Nurse
On rare occasions, he doesn't fall asleep during his "snack"  If that happens,  then one of us will sing him to sleep.  We also do this if he wakes up when we try to put him down.  His favorite songs are "A You're Adorable," "You Are My Sunshine", and our two Mommy and Daddy made up songs "Baby Grandpa Go To Sleep" (to the tune of "Twinkle Twinkle")  and "Down by Auntie Jill's"  (to the tune of "Down By The Bay")  Sometimes he will fall asleep to "Polliwog in a Bog" from Barenaked Ladies.
He isn't sleeping through the night still, but he doesn't get up and play either.  He wakes up once around 11(or when I get in bed) then again sometime after that when I am too tired to check the time.  At around 8, he is up for the morning.  way better than the 6 he tried to pull on me in the beginning.
He is still in our bed.  Partially because his room is the coldest in the house and the heater is broken in that part, and partially because we like to cuddle.  I plan to move him to his crib in the summer.  Whether Mommy and Daddy are ready for him to go, or not.

We love bed time.  Lies

B's First Christmas

Something that I have found the past couple years, is that holidays, and things like it (such as Birthdays) dull in excitement the older you get.  Don't get me wrong.  It is still nice to have the days off and spend time with family, but the magic of it all seems to fade.
Enter motherhood.
I'm excited again.  Something about having a child makes everything special.  He isn't even 1, but it made things fun.  Seeing the him explore and attempt to eat the decorations. Having a kid day at Auntie Jill's and making ornaments.  Watching him try to open and play with his gifts. I even got him this beyond adorable Christmas outfit.
Here are lots of pictures to show you how much fun we had  (though they are not in order.  There are way too many for me to worry about order)
Discovered he loves cars.  Just like daddy.

"Thanks Mom"
"I love it"

"See."

The Bryan's

He is unsure about this one.  While Mommy wishes it was bigger for her

His Christmas outfit. Take number 563

He would keep the hat on...until the camera came out

My babies!

Mmmmm.  Ornaments

We have been talking about traditions, and what things that we want to do with our family as the years go by.  Can't wait for more holidays to share with my little world.

Looking Back at My "To Dos"

Last year, I posted a "To Do" list for the year (here).  I didn't quite get through everything, but I did ok.  B's room is fixed up, and we are almost completely switched to more natural cleaners.  Some of the things I didn't finish, like the number of books I read.  The point was still there: I read more.  Same with all my crafty and cooking goals.
I think it is OK that I didn't finish everything on my list this past year.  I made those goals to improve myself.  That is what I did.  I still got distracted and didn't do everything, but at least I did something.
This year, I am going to make a similar list.  It will even have some of the same things on it.  And I will work even harder towards completing them.
Goals for 2014:
  • Make at least 10 new recipes
  • Do 5 different Pintrest projects
  • Learn about 3 new things/skills
  • Work on 3 skills I already have
  • Grow something
  • Take better care of my body
  • Read at least 10 more books
  • Establish a consistent Family Home Evening
  • Make an effort on my appearance.
  • Work harder with my Scentsy business
  • Take lots of pictures
I am excited to see what the new year will bring to our little family.
I hope it will also bring wonderful new things to your home as well.
