10 Things That Today Reminds Me Of

  • I hate being sick.
  • When I was younger, Daddy used to sing us awake(actually he still does that) and some of the songs used to go "Oh lazy Lisa wont you get up, so early in the morning"
  • Also in my young days, I went fishing with Daddy and his friend.  This guy and his wife still know me as "Lucky Lisa" (I have a magical touch with fish bait)
  • Luis is so tolerant of my neediness.  And when I am sick, I am extremely needy.
  • My house is trashed
  • I need to get busy and finish cleaning this house.  I was ready to start working on rooms...and then sickness happened.
  • cold food is good for getting rid of a cough...for a brief period of time
  • No matter what the world says, no one is too old for baths
  • Finding hair in cookies really grosses me out (I'm sure the pistachio cookies Dad made were great)
  • I need to find some cute DIY things to decorate my house with.
On that note, any ideas you guys can come up with would be great.  Of course it would help if I had pictures of the house up already.  Soon hopefully, but as you have possibly noticed from the couple hints above, I have been sick all week and spending any spare time resting and in bed (other than the super cute pink and purple butterfly cake.....which brings me to number 11 of things today reminds me of
  • When I used to spend the night at Granny and Grandpa's house as a child, Grandpa used to be silly and come up with funny names for colors.  He used to call purple, "burple" I thought it was one of the funniest things in the world.
I think I am going to have to do a grandparent post soon.  I don't think the Internet has enough room for all of the memories and things I want to say that the word "Grandparent" brings up...and I don't want to get too teary eyed right now either.  Though I will say.  I absolutely LOVE my Grandparents.

Off to sleep.

The Things That Happen At Perko's

I know, I know.  Where are pictures of the house.  Well I'm not done unpacking...at all, but I have the next couple days off, so hopefully soon.  I did have a wonderful day with the family.

Dad decided that we should all go to the new Perko's in Sacramento (on J street right off the freeway, in case you want to check it out)  My big bother, Mark, is helping out managing the new diner.  Some interesting/funny/cute things happened.
  • Mark's bosses are also a pair of brothers that he went to high school with, so they know my family pretty well.  Well most of my family.  We walked in, and one of the brothers started talking to Dad and showing us to our table.  Then he looked back and looked really confused and worried.  Then he realized Luis was with us.  Luis had grabbed Hals by the shoulders.  He told Dad he thought some weirdo had just walked up and grabbed his daughter.

The rest of what happened is all about our beautiful niece, Sarah, who decided she wanted to sit between Luis and I.(other funny things might have happened, but I was too busy giggling with Sarah)
  • Sarah was getting her fork and her Knife and spoon fell off her napkin, as I scooted her knife(a butter knife) back to her napkin(because I'm OCD like that) she scooted the knife away and says, "Actually, I am not able to use knives"
  • While eating her Mac 'n' Cheese, She stopped to tell Luis something, then looked down at her plate and asks, "Where is my fork?" I told her, "It's in your hand."  She then looks at her fork that is indeed still in her hand, "Oh"  then laughs.
  • Everyone had been picking at Sarah's Mac 'n' Cheese (Brooke had actually eaten a whole piece of her bread, thinking she wouldn't notice...until Sarah asked "Who ate my bread?") probably because it looked like the good, made from scratch kind.  So I asked her, "Can I try your food?"  (I might also note that she ate about half of Luis soup and crackers, and had started helping herself to my salad when her food got there)  So she tells me, "No"  then keeps eating.  A couple bites latter, she says, "This is so good,"  Then looks up at me and says, "You can try some.  I was just kidding."

Oh how that girl melts my heart. Like hot pasta melts cheese.
